When the Pedal For Hope was born, Gary thought it was a great idea and it would be a new way to reach out to the communities that we have not been able to reach before. It is an awesome feeling to be welcomed into a school and get to interact in such a positive way with the students. Nothing beats the feeling you get when you meet these special friends and get to know them. They are truly an inspiration.
Dave McNab Has been a police officer for 20 years, having served with the Peterborough O.P.P. for 15. He has ridden bicycles for years as a means of keeping fit and for recreation. Dave was thrilled when he was offered the opportunity to join the Pedal for Hope team and put this passion behind finding a cure and treatments for cancer.
Dave has always believed that compassion for others is not enough; we also need to recognize our responsibility and make a positive change in the lives of others. Dave has been thrilled to see such tremendous support from the businesses and individuals in the communities around us.
Pedal for Hope's success would not be possible without that support. And of course, the children involved are the driving force behind Pedal for Hope. We couldn't do it without you! See you on the tour.
John is the only member of the Pedal For Hope team who is not a police officer. He not only grew up in Peterborough , but played hockey with the Peterborough Petes from 1984-1986 and has been a member of the Pedal For Hope team since inception. John was drafted into the NHL in 1985 and played
14 years of professional hockey.
He spent time playing with the Washington Capitals, Winnipeg Jets, Los Angeles Kings and played in the Stanley Cup finals with the Philadelphia Flyers in 1997.
Currently John is a financial advisor with Freedom 55 Financial. Today, instead of assisting his teammates on the ice, he focuses on helping families and businesses who work with him to achieve their goals and dreams John is the proud father of two beautiful daughters and is an avid sports enthusiast.
He enjoys golf, wakeboarding, snowboarding, and loves spending time cycling. Pedal For Hope is close to John's heart as his daughter Courtney was diagnosed with Leukemia in 2004 and continues to valiantly fight her battle. The smiles on the kid's faces say it all as the team rides into their schools. We know that we wouldn't be able to achieve our goals without them on our team.

" I feel like a kid waiting for Christmas Day!" Caldzy enjoys spending quality time with his lovely wife Carrie, his daughters Emma and Haley and his son Drew. Caldzy decided to become a member of the pedal for cycling team after he lost his dad (Robert) to cancer in 1995.
Watching his father deteriorate from this dreadful disease, Caldzy knew he had to become more involved in the fight against cancer. Mark has been involved in team sports/activities his entire life and has always enjoyed riding bicycles, so being a member of the Pedal For Hope team is a natural fit.

Gerry was born and raised in the Peterborough/Ennismore area and has 2 daughters, Melissa and Andrea, who are preparing to begin their 3rd year in university. Gerry has been a member of the Ontario Provincial Police since 1987, currently working at Peterborough County Detachment as a Sergeant/shift supervisor.
There are a number of reasons why Gerry became involved in the Pedal for Hope Tour. He enjoys cycling and being involved in the positive environment the students provide, but first and foremost, he supports Pediatric Cancer research.
This touches him in a personal way. His niece is a young teenager named Rebecca Wright. Rebecca lives in the Peterborough Area and attends Adam Scott HS in Peterborough.
On the 21st of August 1998 , just prior to her 4th birthday, Rebecca was diagnoses with Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia (ALL). She began treatment immediately. After five years of aggressive treatment, at 9 years of age, she went into remission. To date she is declared Leukemia free with only a 1% chance recurrence. If the money we raise during the tour makes the difference in one child's life then it's worth it.

Trevor Banbury is one of the newest members of the Pedal for Hope Team, having joined this year. He is a shift Sergeant with the Peterborough County OPP and has been a police officer since 1995. Trevor has been married to his wife, Charlene since 1998 and is the father of two wonderful young boys, Ian and Scott. Both Trevor and his wife were raised in the Peterborough area and decided early in their respective careers to make Peterborough their home
so their children could enjoy the same lifestyles and advantages they had while growing up.
Several of Trevor's close family and friends, both adults and children, have been diagnosed with cancer and its associated forms. Trevor's decision to join the Pedal for Hope Team was influenced by this and he felt that now was the time give back to those he cares about and the community in which he lives and raises his family. Trevor felt that becoming a member of the Pedal for Hope team would be the most rewarding opportunity for him to achive this due to its deep community involvement and the partnership it forms with the youth in our schools.
